Airscream AirsPops is one of the few pod systems in South Africa that genuinely bridges the gap between a disposable and a proper refillable kit. How the AirsPops refillable system works

Every Airscream device is a battery plus a pod. The pod holds the e-liquid and the coil; the battery just fires it. When the liquid runs low you top the pod up from a bottle of 313 rather than throwing anything away. When the coil eventually wears out (usually a week or two of daily use, signalled by a burnt or muted taste), you fit a fresh pod or coil for a fraction of the cost of a new device.

The draw is mouth-to-lung: a tight, cigarette-like inhale rather than a big lung hit. That is deliberate. AirsPops is built around nic salts, which are smooth at high strengths, so a tight MTL draw plus 40mg salt is about as close as vaping gets to the feel of a cigarette.

Which pod fits which device

This is where most people buy the wrong thing. There are two families:

• AirsPops Pro / Pro Lite: uses Pro refillable pods with a built-in coil. The 0.8Ω version gives a slightly warmer, more flavour-forward draw. There is also a separate 1.0Ω Pro coil for a tighter, cooler, more cigarette-like hit.

What Airscream costs, and how to refill without dry hits

A 30ml bottle of 313 is R299. Pro pods are R135 for two, Pro 1.0Ω coils R119 for two, standard refillable pods R99 for two, and the 6ml XL refillable tank is R89. Against a disposable, the maths is straightforward: one 30ml bottle carries roughly the same liquid as several throwaway bars, and you are not paying for a new battery every time.

To refill: pull the pod off the battery, open the silicone fill plug, tilt the bottle and fill slowly down the side of the pod, keeping liquid out of the central airflow tube. Reseal firmly, then stand the pod upright for three to five minutes so the cotton fully saturates. Skipping that wait is the single most common cause of a burnt first puff on a new pod.
