Uwell Caliburn South Africa: Which Pods & Coils to Buy (2026)

Let us clear up the confusion first, because it costs people money: Uwell Caliburn pods are refillable. You fill them yourself from a bottle of e-liquid. What you eventually replace is the worn-out part — the coil on the G-series, or the whole cartridge on the GPP. Nobody buys prefilled Caliburn pods, because they do not exist. With that settled, here is which spare actually fits your device. Browse everything on the Caliburn brand page at ADVapes.

Refillable pod, replaceable coil: how Caliburn is built

Every Caliburn is a battery plus a pod, and the pod is an empty reservoir you fill with your own nic salt or freebase liquid. The difference between models is where the coil lives.

  • Caliburn G / G2: the pod is refillable and the coil is a separate screw-in part. When the flavour turns burnt you unscrew the old coil, fit a new one, and keep using the same pod. Coils come in 0.8Ω, 1.0Ω and 1.2Ω.
  • Caliburn GPP: the coil is built into the cartridge. You still refill the cartridge with your own liquid; when the coil is spent you swap the entire cartridge. Available in 0.4Ω, 0.6Ω and 0.9Ω, each holding 3ml.
  • Caliburn A-series (A3): a complete kit with a refillable pod and an integrated coil — the simplest of the three to live with.

So the FAQ answer people keep getting wrong: yes, they are refillable, and no, replacing a coil is not the same as buying a new pod.

Which resistance should you choose?

Resistance sets the character of the vape. Higher ohms (1.0Ω–1.2Ω) give a tight, cool, cigarette-like mouth-to-lung draw that sips liquid — the right choice on 35–50mg nic salt and the obvious pick for a recent ex-smoker. Lower ohms (0.4Ω–0.6Ω) run hotter, draw looser and produce noticeably more vapour, which is great on lower-strength liquid and unpleasant on 50mg.

The 0.9Ω GPP cartridge sits in the middle and is the one we recommend to most GPP owners: enough warmth to carry flavour, tight enough to stay comfortable with salts.

Buying the right spare, first time

Match the spare to the device, not to the ohm rating — a 1.2Ω G2 coil will not fit a GPP no matter how similar the number looks. If you are not sure which Caliburn you own, look at the pod: if a coil screws into the base, it is a G-series and you need coils. If the coil is moulded into the cartridge, it is a GPP and you need cartridges. The 0.4Ω GPP cartridge is also stocked if you want the loosest, warmest draw of the range.

Whichever you buy, prime it. Fill the pod, wait five minutes before the first puff, and refill before it runs dry. A Caliburn coil treated that way will give you a week or two; fired dry once, it will taste burnt until you replace it.
