Smok Solus 2 South Africa: Pod Kit & Pods (2026 Guide)

The Smok Solus 2 is one of the easiest ways into refillable vaping: a slim, draw-activated pod kit with no buttons, no screen and nothing to configure. You fill the pod, take a draw, and it fires. This guide covers what the Smok Solus 2 does well, the pods it takes, the e-liquids that suit it, and where it stands in South Africa in 2026. You can browse the wider range on the Smok brand page at ADVapes.

What the Smok Solus 2 actually is

The Solus 2 is a mouth-to-lung (MTL) pod kit built around simplicity. There is no fire button and no wattage menu — the device is draw-activated, so it only works when you inhale. The battery is built in and charges over USB-C, and a single charge is comfortably enough for a normal day of light-to-moderate vaping.

The pod holds 2ml of e-liquid and clips in magnetically, and the airflow can be nudged tighter or looser depending on whether you want a cigarette-like draw or something a little airier. It has been sold in Black, Grey, Silver, Ocean Green, Lake Blue and Mocha Gold, at a typical ADVapes price of R249 for the kit.

Solus 2 pods and coils explained

The Solus 2 uses a single replacement pod: the meshed 0.9Ω pod, sold in a 3-pack for around R179. On this device the coil is part of the pod, so there is no separate coil to fit — when the flavour goes flat or starts tasting burnt, you swap the whole pod.

A mesh coil at 0.9Ω heats evenly, which is why the Solus 2 gives cleaner flavour than the older cotton-wick pods it replaced. Expect roughly one to two weeks per pod with normal use. Two habits make them last: let a freshly filled pod sit for five minutes before the first draw, and avoid vaping it dry — a burnt wick cannot be recovered.

One point worth flagging: Solus 2 pods are not interchangeable with pods from the older Smok Solus G-Box. Check that the pod you are buying matches the device you actually own.

Which e-liquid suits the Solus 2

A 0.9Ω pod with a tight MTL draw is built for nicotine salts. Salt e-liquids in the 20mg to 35mg range give a smooth throat hit at low power, which is exactly what an ex-smoker wants from a device like this. If you are unsure how salts differ from ordinary freebase juice, our nicotine salts guide breaks it down.

Stick to 50/50 PG/VG or higher-PG blends. Thick, high-VG cloud juice will not wick properly through a 0.9Ω pod and will give you dry hits. And if you have already stepped your nicotine down, the Solus 2 runs 0mg e-liquid perfectly well — the hardware does not care what strength you put in it.

Solus 2 or a disposable?

The honest comparison is cost. A high-puff disposable is cheaper on day one and needs no maintenance, but you buy a whole new device every time it dies. A refillable kit costs more up front and then drops to the price of e-liquid and the occasional pod, which works out cheaper within a couple of months for most people. The trade-off is that you actually have to refill it.

If you would rather compare the two properly before committing, our pod systems vs disposables guide lays the running costs out side by side.
