Vaporesso XROS Pods South Africa: Which Resistance to Choose (2026)

Vaporesso XROS pods are the reason the XROS is still one of the best-selling refillable kits in the world — and the reason people keep buying the wrong spare. The pods are refillable, so what you are really choosing is a coil resistance and a capacity. Get the resistance right and the same device can feel like a cigarette or like a small cloud machine. Here is what each ohm rating actually does, and which one to buy. Shop the range on the Vaporesso brand page at ADVapes.

What an XROS pod actually is

An XROS pod is a small refillable reservoir with a mesh coil built into the base. You fill it yourself with any nic salt or freebase liquid, vape it, and replace the whole pod when the coil starts tasting muted or burnt — typically after one to two weeks. There is no separate coil to unscrew. That is what makes the XROS so low-maintenance, and it is why the pod you choose matters more than anything else about the device.

Resistance explained: 0.6Ω to 1.2Ω

Resistance, measured in ohms, controls how much power reaches the coil and therefore how warm, how airy and how vapour-heavy the draw is. Lower ohms means more power, more heat, more vapour and a looser draw. Higher ohms means less power, a cooler and tighter draw, and less liquid consumed.

  • 1.2Ω — the tightest, most cigarette-like MTL draw in the range. Best with 35–50mg nic salts. The pod to buy if you have just stopped smoking.
  • 1.0Ω — still a tight MTL, slightly warmer and a touch more vapour than 1.2Ω. A good middle ground on high-strength salt.
  • 0.8Ω — the all-rounder and our most popular pod. Balanced flavour and vapour, comfortable on 20–35mg salts.
  • 0.6Ω — loosest and warmest, noticeably more vapour. Pair it with lower-strength liquid; 50mg through a 0.6Ω coil is harsh and burns through juice fast.

The rule of thumb worth memorising: as resistance goes down, nicotine strength should come down with it. Most bad XROS experiences are someone running 50mg salt through a low-ohm pod.

2ml vs 3ml pods

Older XROS models use a 2ml pod; the newer 3ml pods hold half again as much liquid and mean fewer refills in a day. The coil inside is the same mesh — capacity does not change how the vape feels, only how often you top up. Check which your device takes before you order, and note the 3ml pods carry a small premium (R269 versus R240 for the 2ml four-packs).

XROS Pod — 1.2Ω mesh (4-pack)

R240

The tightest draw XROS makes. The pod for ex-smokers on 50mg salt who want a cigarette-like pull.

Vaporesso xros replacement pod 0. 6 mesh 3ml 4 pack

XROS Pod — 0.6Ω mesh, 3ml (4-pack)

Warmest and airiest, with real vapour. Run it on lower-strength liquid, not 50mg.

How to make an XROS pod last

Prime it. Fill the pod, then let it stand upright for five minutes before the first puff so the cotton fully wicks. Firing a dry wick even once leaves a burnt taste you cannot undo.

After that, three habits do most of the work: refill before the pod runs dry rather than after; avoid very sweet, dark dessert liquids if you want the coil to last, because sucralose caramelises on mesh and kills flavour early; and do not chain-vape a low-ohm pod. Treated well, an XROS pod will give you a fortnight. Treated badly, three days.
